It started with a game called Baldur’s Gate conceptualized by two Canadian doctors after their break with interplay, that’s all i know. now that i dig deeper, it’s like these dudes have disappeared off of the face of the earth. from what i remember, when they finished working on Baldur’s Gate, an ip where you are the demi god children of the lord of murder, assembling a small group to murder him, again if memory serves, with interplay, they made an action game called MDK. or if my knowledge of the criminal/martial underworld is correct “murder, death, kill.” to make this ever more bizarre, besides the psychotic doctor in Baldur’s Gate… which to be honest i found way too boring to play through, this game is about a superhero janitor and a six legged dog… i kid you not. guess what game that i was first introduced to them by? Neverwinter Nights. still buying the enhanced edition of the sequel though, even though despite all the coddling about adept storytelling i still feel obsidian soiled the bed linens, and even with the enhanced edition which is already over a decade old all i desire is smooth frames… with the first enhanced edition playing it’s role and spending 8 years on community aided textures until a card came out that could compute in a fashion that could affordably produce those smooth frames, yeah right. but whatever, that’s it, on or off sale. i’m not into the eye candy and even off sale it’s only going to be twenty bucks. however, these games are no peer to their swan song, or any of the sequels that came after it, Dragon Age Origins. alot of fake nerds say they play through Baldur’s Gate every year and expose themselves. Dragon Age Origins is arguably one of the most epic fantasy games ever developed. the world is fleshed out, although not a sandbox. it’s almost completely voiced in the cut scenes save yourself so you can imagine yourself in character. and just sometimes less is more. sometimes it’s not… like in this game when you see that beautiful blood on parchment circle in the game and you finally have a computer capable enough to render it near flawlessy, even if everybody you know is toxic as hell. it has obviously been constantly worked on and aged gracefully. my true number one, it’s only 10gb so i always have it installed on my hard drive and why?.. because i have serious issues. oh, and if you have the p.c. edition “white teeth,” mod install that or get it from nexus because these arrogant bastards swore that they made the teeth of everybody in the xbox 360 and PS3 version brown for the sake of realism… jerks. caveat emptor if you’re a laptop fan, yeah it came out in 2012 but it’ll give your little integrated graphics macbook a workout.
