it was was the meme before memes were a definite fixture in our social media riddled society, at least among those of us who had any enthusiasm whatsoever about playing pc games… but can it run crysis?.. left many the authentic, bottle neck stretching, hardcore digital warrior on his knees, praying to the digital gods and taking small sips of virgin blood. now i don’t know why they didn’t scream this from the mountains but epic remade every single crysis game but crysis warhead, which i find to be the most interesting story wise but makes my fairly competent computer crash. the “accessible” really applies to the original releases, especially if you have a mid to high range gaming computer and an average full hd monitor that won’t stress your graphics card pushing those pixels because even today, these games are a thing of beauty, especially if your not put off by flawed elements like pop up objects on the ground… or if your really pushing it with your counterstrike machine… by which i’m meaning mid range high hz… microstutter. i will swear i totally understand the myriad reasons why this is the entire inappropriate time to be discussing this game but i don’t understand epic, or the crysis trilogy to begin with, for the moment i’m blessed with the ability to be a grown boy and maintain some of my dignity while doing so. however, the original ips have scaled wonderfully with what i assume is no intervention or further programming by cevat yerli’s team, and the releases from epic are absolutely stunning… the remasters are chock full of intuitive quality of life adjustments as far as getting around and fighting for your life is concerned and they even included a setting named “but can it run crysis.” in recognition of all the pain those micro stutters and hopefully non hardware damaging crashes that the original was the culprit of. the awesome thing about it, again with another plug, is that if you purchase the trio off of the epic client the releases are 30 dollars a piece 49.99 and well worth it for the trilogy with the prolificated crippling of the 70 dollar pc gaming/console market. unfortunately if you have a lower end computer your going to have to defer to the original cryis releases and a bit of know how to get them to run correctly but the silver lining in that atmospheric river is that they run pretty much perfectly on very high, in many cases with the few “new coat of paint” mods, like the 2018 texture pack (just google it) in 1080p on like a 700 dollar machine. if you remember crysis and the pandemonium/salt that followed its release you remember that when it was released, pretty much no consumer pc in existence could run it with all the bells and whistles turned on, now, that being possible with a mediocre gaming machine the downside is that the original releases are 20 bucks when they need to be 10. for those of us a little higher up the luck ladder the real gem of the new trilogy is the original and yes, on a 1080p 75hz monitor, my pc can run crysis… hallelujah… see thats what you gen z console players don’t understand about the form and function of computers even though every once and a while you get a lemon and a 600 plus dollar lemon if your dealing with anybody but best buy is a hard pill to swallow, but the games are designed to facilitate the sale of the hardware… i think i tried to explain before, so they want you to keep tinkering, most importantly, keep buying, and that rabbit hole is plenty deep and again… is riddled with many broken electrified bodies along the way. i mean personally one of my favorite games, in the hands of one of my least favorite companies, has constantly iterated and iterated and continued to crawl. you wouldn’t have guessed it but the name of this ip is neverwinter nights. it came out in 2002 and given the utility of polygon graphics in that era, where to some extent they still coexisted along sprites is stunning for the limits of the medium at that time. its nowhere as incredible as the crescendo of fantasy that was dragon age origins and which scaled a good bit better but if you try to play it on a google book you might come away from it disappointed, especially if you try to run it with the developer community collaboration, new coat of paint, texture and mesh rejigger. but average machines, doable, wonderful, but for the hardware you need to run it, far from perfect. understand i know these guys are in the game to make money, and they just had an serious gun put to their heads but with pc’s there is no reverse engineering, there is patching but no reverse engineering for the most part. if it worked then, it works ten times better now. period… and that’s why i waste money on computer games… feel me? so, like the weak committer of sin i am, i’m comfortable for a little bit now so i’ll quote you some knowledge from the King Lebron James edition of the bible from proverbs 10:22 – The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. it led to a little bit of introspection… i don’t know where you grew up, but even with the loss of one of my dear loved ones, i feel i love God with the food in my grimy maw, you know. the meme before memes were a definite fixture in our social media riddled society, at least among those of us who had any enthusiasm whatsoever about playing pc games… but can
