now, full transparency, i can’t even code with the tools included with these bioware games, but nexus has introduced a program with their mods where they are paying their community for coding and/or curating mods for certain games. this for me always seemed like the perfect way to introduce new content to older games and encourage community members to try that much harder in this drought of quality digital content. but nobody wants to put anything up there and it kind of sucks, a few of the collections work, but there are still too many lemons. if the monetization was limited to encouraging community members to program for nexus and it’s premium members, even better. the world being what it is these days, and plenty of talented people in the wings, this is an idea whose time has come. if this interests you, and you don’t mind paying 8 dollars a month for the service and being frustrated a decent amount of the time, you can download all the mods contained in each separate collection with one click and if the nexus community gets their act together, that juice would be worth the squeeze. this ain’t junior varsity ball anymore, especially if you’re talented at it and were previously just doing it for bragging rights. i don’t imagine the checks will be huge but for the moment these dudes are just putting up their loadouts for cash. got one to work and i spend too much of my life waiting. surprisingly to a greater extent, the non-human races in the dragon age origins collections work way better than their human contemporaries… somebody fix this… ok, not all of them are lemons but you’re dealing with that 4-gig memory ceiling plus the original release of Dragon Age Origins had a memory leak which is still an anomaly. I have an intel i7 13700F with a decent card and i still get the occasional crash if i turn everything up. however, i like the community reverse engineering better than the sloppy override folder action that most of these dudes go for. for real, if i was nexus no check from me. it took me a day and half and don’t expect total rewrites, but the enemies definitely are annoyingly more intelligent without the game feeling unfair. it’s the Tweaks, Fixes, and More mod by NORSTAERA. it has a small footprint despite the hardware demands, again… for a decades old game and if you follow the instructions exactly, which there are plenty of despite this being one of the simpler functional collections on the site, it does function with a good amount of polish. like it was with the original developers Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, otherwise known as the doctors, whether you were enjoying their stuff, or waiting for future technology to allow you to enjoy their stuff, were great story tellers but in the race for that check these newly balanced mechanics make that impression you need. i’m trying to see how much of it i can play through before the game encounters a critical failure. the assets seem pretty much untouched even though something about it feels like a new game. like streamlined massive armor drops off enemies earlier in the game that require 20’s strength instead of 40. like it said it’s a little bit more difficult but with different dynamics that don’t seem unfair and if you follow the instructions, you can probably actually play through a good amount of the game… more please. the only thing caveat, probably talking to myself, alot of you are going to be disappointed with the required specs.
