i’m going to try to be as tactful as possible with my knowledge of technology, lack of skill and tone deaf handicap as far as musical arts go, and further my knowledge of latency and how it affects a recording. having just discovered hi res, 44.1Khz/16bit res. CD quality which many cd ripping audiophiles swear by, is still bottom of the mark CD quality but evidently there is more than that to the manipulating and remastering of a track an ultimately if these things do what they claim to do…. elements of a track recording for listening, where the utility of these devices start. i purchased a modest 140$ hi res player with a dac in it for my personal christmas gift. being indoctrinated on anbernic chinese “theif boxes” and having full knowledge on how and when to power cycle my device… the surfans f20 is a breeze… the f28 i hope they perform some more refinement on. paired them both with some hi res dj monitor style headphones because money is a thing no matter what chatGPT says, (keep in mind these things can run you anywhere from 40$ to 2000$… of course i got the 40$ pair with the 50mm drivers. trust me, unless you trained at a school of the arts and can discern notes in compositions it’s not going to make a difference. the extra channels available to you through the remaster and the player will just become more noticeable. with the subtle mids and deep bass in my ‘phones they really aren’t for swifties but you could straight up ask an ai which headphones are.

see, being out of school for many years and enjoying the coddling my english teachers gave me for my assignments… these are the only uses i have for ai. as for the apple thing, when you are part of their apple music streaming service they will reveal which of their recordings are remastered. like i said before you will hear the difference. but i took the article down because having unlimited lossless was misinformation. but selections can be found if you look, especially of priceless classics truly reminescent of an era. the clients that deal in these diamond recordings also have a long way to go but the price out of pocket to me wasn’t more than 2 dollars when i purchase a hit from my childhood… remember rock with you from michael jackson? you can get that off of apple lossless and i love it. firewalling that would be an epic move that’s holding us back from the quality tunes of our youth while claiming to make all sorts of market sense when it doesn’t… treat it like the wired headphones. you have people purchasing and paying rent on your phones every two years, sheez. the compilation is michael jackson’s ones, if you’re interested. and if you want to pray a bit and put in the footwork to do so, you can to a certain extent copy and canabalize your apple music subscription to your open source dap. more of an oddity than a sony competitor but these guys have been around for a decade. apple lossless and lossy apple tracks and enjoy the beautiful device of this devil, because that’s all it is. having meta cover art and dual dacs for under 200$ does come damn sure to a christmas blessing because that’s what ended up happening and the rest of the month is praying that the bills work out. i’m not going to say it’s not for the faint of heart but the process will frustrate you, but the vibrant screen on the surfans f28 begs of an album cover complement and it has a barebones OS and i own every apple music song on my device. it’s a waiting game, if they cut me off i’ll probably rejoin, it’s worth it. i mean, the entire apple catalog is drm free for the hundreth damn time and if the suits deny this 10 year old company with no support for any streaming system from using their client to play audio purchased from their store, yes i would find that a bit salty. but there are plenty of dudes who care not if their audio is devoid of cover art and their lossless is lossy so… rock on brotha, rock on.
