*i tried to make the details of the device as simple as possible but when you get the sd card and firmware sorted, even though the firmware always comes up failed for me… your going to turn on standby, and when you’ve finished listening, stop the song with a quick tap, and press… not hold the power button, until the screen goes off and press it once again, holding is not necessary, to wake the screen up so you can listen again. whenever you listen to the device you’re going to have to repeat the same process which is not near as inconvenient as power cycling this thing. it’s a touch screen with buttons and plenty capable for what you paid for it. as for the cover art, i’m not going to explain that process to you. but merry christmas to me… there’s hundreds of these things out there and i found my star crossed dap lover… lost my ultrawide monitor but found her. and one more thing, when you are finished charging the device, you might have to hold the power button down for ten or more seconds but come to think of it you might be able to wake it up with a quick press in that situation as well.* if you “preserve” video games on one of the hundreds of devices that china makes for doing that, you know how these devices are, but not so much love with the tutorials for the audio devices. read below my attempt at trying to explain how i got my F28 consistently working… the quirks do add a bit of charm stolen from much more expensive devices but i don’t want to spend unnecessary time trying to explain myself. the way more user friendly and not that worse sounding device is the surfans F20, the only issue being the size of these high impedance headphones, i like the entry level sony mdr’s way better and the size is much more to be desired, lemme slip in a picture because you probably think this thing is old school ipod sized and its not so i prefer my sony MDR-ZX110’s which can be had for as little as 12$ if you don’t want the blue or red colorway, those will cost you, although the red’s 40$ price tag is definitely excessive compared to the rest of the skus.*

… that’s the long and the short of it, you got the F28 to work for you, congratulations.*
it’s quirky, but combined with a quality pair of headphones like my sennheiser 599’s and a quality, preferably remastered or .FLAC track these things are the perfect companion for the days when you don’t have companions but blinded by the branding, do you know what i found out. if you’re not an R&B purist, can’t hear music and like that 50mm driver d.j. “party in a headphone” bass, the oneolio studio 10’s that i recommended you for the F20, the crazy thing being that described as having “neutral” sound the F20 might pair better with the sennheisers if you’re a musician on a budget and can hear music. i mean the sennheissers are better, but not 200$ better. as far as the micro sd is concerned, it seems that quality 16gb FAT32 formatted is the sweet spot, still thousands of songs, even in .FLAC or any of the other pretty much complete formats of hi res music this thing plays. 16gb ultra quality micro sd cards are 10 dollars these days on Amazon and you can do your research on how many hi-res albums that is… don’t be cheap. really? really. thousands of high fidelity songs literally, so your going to keep the infrastructure neat and tidy in folders which the device supports along with cover art either provided by the client or attached to the file with music bee. a little eye candy when the album is played, nothing fancy but with the icons they’ll do and it will do wonders with the lack of aggravation, which until you hit that stride with this device will be plenty, but i think i’ve got it and its worth it. did i mention that people are emotionally split on this thing and the sony NW A360 for 200$ more, i’ll mention it again. back to the subject. now, the menu is neat and has a satisfiably varied amount of choices. i really don’t like to deal with equalizers and dap players, if it’s decent the music should be lovely totally nude. i neglected to realize that i was “late” on this device so i wasted hours on misinformation and trying to install firmware that i’m indecisive on whether will work or not because it always comes up failed but i did learn something that isn’t in the instruction manual. if you pause the current song with the touch screen and press, not hold the power button as i said earlier, it consumes more battery, but a press (not hold) of the power button will wake it up. it actually has a power saving mode. you can turn on standby and if you forget to turn it off leave it until it counts down into powersaving mode and provided you don’t leave it 10 hours or more i would imagine, when you want to resume using it, press the power button once more, don’t hold it, press it. if the device isn’t responsive, you can either plug it into a charged usb c wire or hold the power and back buttons at the same time depending on the amount of time the device has been sleeping and hope that does it. if you should feel that you are missing something at this point by not trying another firmware install the file can be found here to unzip and transfer on to your ultra premium, 16gb 10$ sandisk card. it seems like i’m lowballing you but i’m not and you are free to go bigger, especially if the majority of your music is hi-fi and to you that defeats the purpose or not just remember you have to use a different format over 32gb. that should sort out any quibbles left on the firmware that came with the device but what can i say, she’s a diva… cheers.
best of luck and happy new year,
the ummi
