Well people, i’ve been trudging this path for a while. from anbernic to nintendo and a few others. recently I was particularly impressed with the original media driven premise of the analogue pocket. then came the trimui brick for half the size at half the price but seriously cramped with compromises in build quality, and lacking the gimmick that left me intriqued with the analoque. however, looking at video and images of the two neck and neck i really can’t see the difference, i guess you have to spend those two hondos and buy one. however, i still love TrimUI until my smart pro does me wrong… but what if i told you that there was a company which had 3 skus… a 1080p home console, a full sized lo fi hd handheld, and a surprisingly comfortable, collectible, line of micro handheld consoles for offer?.. but bear with me. the part that blows my mind is that they all utilize the same proprietary cartridge media. like i said before, no doubt about it these are old games, really nothing past the 16 to 32 bit generations, but you don’t have to worry about passkeys or online ids or digital games being tethered to a personal web account… you just plug them in and play. now for you hardcore “collectors” the vitriol is contained in the structure of the transaction. nobody’s against supporting mom and pop brick and mortar game stores… it’s a tough road to hoe. but while your spending your disposable income on these second hand cartridges, consider evercade. like i said past article, in many cases they work with and ask for the permission of the studios that they base their product off of. so that first transaction, that transaction where the studio gets paid, is recycled. not to the extent of when the item was new stock, but to some degree, and that’s better than nothing, and you can feel good about that. plus in a world of singular, although admittedly superior current 70 dollar games. if retro is what your into these games cost between 20 and 50 dollars depending on content and quantity. so that’s it , i’m pretty much through singing the praises of evercade… have a good one.
