DS3 has a full overhaul mod.

with all these little cookie cutter games doesn’t it seem like From is programming with AI these days? relax… i joke, i joke, i kid, i kid… but before you lay your 40 bucks down to purchase the elden ring dlc in anticipation of more community fantasy dreamscapes prepare to have your install of dark souls three forever transformed on your hard drive, i’m talking new bosses, new areas, existing areas transformed with new shader effects to the point where they are nigh impossible to recognize, for a few months now considered to be relatively complete. hate to hate From softserve, but if your hardware is the stuff of recreative recreation, look no further than this mod. it’s called “the convergence” and is an example of what passion can do to folks. of course i would rather have the supreme, perfect, no corners cut ultimate fantasy game but those commas won’t be there because pretty much all people work only as hard as is required to satisfy the customer. the only real issue i have with it is that the balancing isn’t really balanced… but when you have a single digit team working on what basically is the competent remake of a multimillion game in their free time with what i have to imagine are day jobs and families even if they are reverse engineering the original presentation with “proof of concept” quality of life improvements and ideas for paid future dlc you can’t expect anything more. if you’ve been using and stealing and growing up with and ceasing to steal in your use of computers all your life you’ll be able to install this with the server that this small group of people listed on the nexus page have provided you through nexus and the fact that your firewall won’t block it is proof enough that its legitimate, all you need is a copy of dark souls three including all the downloadable content. i don’t know about your computer but the dark souls version of convergence works fine for me on the latest 2.0 version of mod engine and runs well, as long as it’s the steam version. now the balancing, you’ll meet up with some old bosses with new mechanics and some new murderous faces that are going to make you seriously consider giving up and throwing your controller against the wall as well, who am i kidding, they all will. the majority of the new player cast is magical martial with staves that can be attuned with select schools of magical arts if your supporting stats and attunement are right from the start of the game and i suggest in my little play of said game that attunement should be the first thing you put the easy souls you get at the beginning of the game into. furthermore, the spell animations are pleasingly impressive. now keep in mind i am forever late so this mod is a probably a degree more refined than the same network trying to do the same thing with elden ring which has yet to come into being fantasy phenom (which from what i hear it will,) of it’s own. you see, here’s the thing, i love the original versions of these games. i love the idea of benevolent community… but you have to wait at least two years before you pull stuff like this. if you sat down for a pow wow with the original developers of dark souls three, i guarantee you that they would tell you that this mod is too good. your efforts to outshine the celestial lights has born fruit, and while it is difficult to stop there, especially if there’s money involved, it’s warranted to maintain the goodwill or appearance of goodwill of the community, keep in mind that you are boosting dlc sales with this mod. i mean from aeromancers, to necromancers, to witch hunters and death knights this game is a gift from a gift to behold, provided you have the original with all it’s dlc. the balancing could definitely use a little work as it skews even closer to impossible than the original, even though i beat mike tyson’s punch out as a kid so i might be underestimating myself but i’m an aeromancer, in those rags, with those oversized pecs, gotta let ’em know you’re chose right… i mean a dude can dream, however with the forossan windstaff spell on your stave and a little bit of patience, you’ll give vordt his comeuppance. that’s what i hate about these games it’s kinda like the thing i hate about my reality. the powers that be, or someone acting as the powers has be, claim they have no choice but to set you up in a situation where your limitations and bad decisions paint you into a corner which you’re destined to fail in, and the fail hurts twice as bad the second time because you know what the rise felt like. in the vurdt fight, which is like the first one in the damn game, excluding the new “firelink watchdog” boss, its real, i’m telling you. at first i felt like the problem was that my dude had like no elemental magic resistance even though he was a magic class and yet i can’t let off a barrage of gust spells like the light sorceress and her erudite beams who has considerable elemental magic defense as well and that’s why. i’m getting whupped, you hear me? whupped… every time out and this is vordt so you know where this is going. i’ll give it a few… cause the dude is the only cat i’ve made in that game that even closely resembles a cool, attractive me… and i am none of the above so i pretend. and i did eventually beat dude with that jedi style aero windstaff sword… let’s not talk about being in my late forties not being able to afford a fuel injected genital prostheses. however, whichever one you go with, i can only speak to dark souls three, i haven’t logged enough hours with elden ring but it’s all good. surprisingly good.
